WILMINGTON, DE – In response to Kerri Harris conceding her Delaware primary for United States Senate, Center for Popular Democracy Action (CPD Action), a national network of grassroots community organizations, released the following today from Co-Executive Director and Network President Jennifer Epps-Addison:

“As a network of grassroots community organizations, we know that organizing builds power. For proof, turn to Kerri Evelyn Harris. A LGBTQ military veteran who identifies as a working class woman of color. Despite being outspent 50 to 1, Harris transformed the conversation with her historic run. After organizing with the Center for Popular Democracy Action network, Kerri took the courageous move to challenge Tom Carper, U.S. Senator from Delaware who has used his 41 years in office to prop up big business and the military industrial complex. On the campaign trail, she talked to people across the state of Delaware to learn about their concerns and priorities in Washington. Her action was bold, visionary, and powerful. It is the future of our politics. Regardless of the outcome of this election, Kerri Harris has shone a light on Carper’s troubling history. We know that she will continue her fight on the streets of Kent County and in the power structures of Washington, D.C.”
